The Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic cannot run without the help of its volunteers. Almost every person associated with the tournament serves in a volunteer capacity including our Board of Directors, Tournament Planning Committee, food tent workers, logistics crew, tournament director, social media crew, photographers, silent auction team and more.


In addition, thanks once again to an extremely generous anonymous donor and our incredible partners at USTA Northern, the Volunteer Give Back program was back in 2024! Players and family members of high school and college tennis teams had the opportunity to fundraise for their tennis programs by volunteering at the 2024 Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic. For every hour volunteered at the 2024 event, our anonymous donor gave $10 to the volunteer's school tennis program, which is then matched (up to $500/team) by USTA Northern (for all public institutions). The anonymous donor also gives another $10 for every hour volunteered to Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund to support the cause! 


In 2024, we had 16 programs participate in the Volunteer Give Back Program, completing 521 hours and paying out $10,400 to the various programs and another $5,200 to Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund. We also had a team come from as far away as Brandon, S.D., to participate in the program.

Sponsorships - help secure sponsorships for the 2025 event, handle communications and sponsor benefits.


Food Tent - help secure donations for 2025 event and work with leads in preparation for event.


Logistics - help with set up and take down a week before and/or after the event. 


Tournament Decor/Party Set Up - help decorate at both tournament facility and at Friday Night Appreciation Party.


Merchandise - help order, distribute and prep merchandise before tournament and help with merchandise sales at the event.


Player Liaison - recruit players to participate in the tournament, help with player marketing and fundraising ideas, do tournament draw.


Silent Auction - Coordinate online silent auction by securing auction items, setting up auction online, monitor auction, coordinate check out and pick up of items, follow up with donor thank yous and in-kind donation forms.  


Photography - assist the tournament photographer with photography needs.


Marketing/Social Media - help with ideas and execution of promoting 2025 tournament through advertising, social media, etc.


Banners & Signs - help design and proof tournament signage needed for event; work with vendors in ordering signage


Patient Stories - interview honored angels and patient families and write feature stories to appear in tournament program and online


Volunteers - help in finding volunteers to fill the over 1,000 hours of people power needed to execute the event. 


Friday Appreciation Party - Looking for a lead to organize this event including invitations, taking RSVPs, helping with logistics, set up, name tags, clean-up and other various duties.


Videographer - video tournament and Friday night party program, create videos for online and social media use


Children's Crafts Area - oversee the children's craft area by procuring supplies, maintaining a safe working environment and helping the children creating incredible pieces of art.
