When and where is the next Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic (PTATC)?
The 40th Anniversary of the Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic will take place July 31-August 3, 2025 at Life Time White Bear Lake.
There is also a Junior Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic August 1-3, 2025. Days 1 and 2 of the tournament take place at Life Time Bloomington South and the championships happen in conjunction with the adult tournament at Life Time White Bear Lake.
Can I play in the tournament?
The Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic is an invitational mixed doubles tournament featuring the best players in the country including current or former professionals, Division I/II/III college players and USTA 4.5 NTRP or higher rated players.
The event is divided into four age categories: Open, Masters, Grand Masters, and Juniors. Both players must meet the USTA standard regarding age to be eligible to play in that division (i.e. - must turn the minimum age in calendar year 2025).
- Open: Any age
- Masters: 35+
- Grand Masters: 50+
- Junior Pine Tree: 11U, 13U, 15U & 17U

Do I need to fundraiser to play?
YES!!! All players are asked to fundraise as part of their entry into the tournament. The recommended minimum is $750 per player, although many players raise thousands of dollars more as all proceeds from the tournament support pediatric oncology, rehabilitation and point of care research initiatives at Children's Minnesota at over 600 hospitals in 66 countries around the world.

What is the Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund and how is it tied to the PTATC?
In 2018, the Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic (PTATC) Advisory Committee formed its own entity - the Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund (PTACF). This Minnesota non-profit corporation is committed to continuing the longstanding PTATC tradition and running the tournament.
As the PTACF continues to grow, the Board of Directors felt the need to create an Executive Director position to oversee both the non-profit and the tournament. Event Coordinator Lisa Mushett was named the organization's first Executive Director in January of 2025!
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, your donation is tax deductible. Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund (PTACF) has been determined to be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our tax identification number is 82-4314989.

How can I support the cause?
As a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity, Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund's mission is to be a positive force in the health and well-being of children with childhood diseases and their families by providing funding, programming and other events and activities to further research around childhood diseases.
We need your help in continuing to deliver our mission as we search for a cure in bringing an end to children's cancer. We offer several different options for giving including:
- Checks - Please complete the PTATC Offline Payment Form and mail it with your contribution to Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund, Attention: Nancy Jacobson, 450 Apple Orchard Road, White Bear Lake, MN 55110.
- In Memory or Honor of - Pay tribute to someone special by setting up a memorial or honorarium fund in their name. Your contribution can be made by any of the options listed here. Include the name and mailing address (if possible) of the person you are honoring or memorializing.
- Recurring Gifts - Your recurring support makes a big impact. You can choose one of the following options for your recurring gift: weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually. We will receive your gift on the same date as your first donation. Recurring payments will continue as is until changed or canceled by contacting ptatc@ptacf.org.
- Stocks and Securities - Donating appreciated stocks and securities to the Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund provides you with specific benefits, including an income-tax charitable deduction for fair-market value and avoidance of capital gains tax. Note: As with all gifts, you should consult with your tax adviser to confirm that it is advantageous for you to contribute appreciated securities.
- Donor Advised Funds - We accept grants from your donor advised funds. Grants should be made payable to Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund and mailed to: 19088 Inndale Drive, Lakeville, MN 55044, Attn: Kevin Werwie.
- Corporate Matching - Your gift to the Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund can go even further if your company offers employee matching gifts. Please send your company’s matching gift form to Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund, 19088 Inndale Drive, Lakeville, MN 55044.
- IRA Required Minimum Distributions - You can make a charitable contribution if you are 70.5 years or older through your IRA. Benefits of your contribution could be maximizing your gift while minimizing tax liability. Consult your financial advisor and request a “qualified charitable distribution” be made to Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund.
